How to Install Programs on an SD Memory Card Using Windows XP

In the Microsoft Windows XP operating system users have a range of options for installing programs. Among these options is the ability to select a custom directory for installation files to be placed, which for some can be a very useful feature. If a specific Windows XP computer comes with a memory card reader, you even have the option of installing programs to memory cards (e.g. an SD card). In a nutshell, Windows XP makes installing programs to non-default locations (such as removable media) a cinch.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert your SD card into the proper slot in your memory card reader then double-click on the installer file to initialize the program installation process.

    • 2

Navigate through the prompts and follow the onscreen directions until you reach the program directory page. Click on the "Browse" button and navigate to your SD card. (This will be located in "My Computer.")

    • 3

Press "Next" when ready to continue to the next page. When you reach the last page (it will be identified as such), press "Install" to install your program to your SD card.
