How to Erase Microsoft Paint Tutorials

If you want to do a bit of basic graphics work but don' t want to use up a lot of money on an expensive program like Photoshop (as well as the time it will take to learn it) a good alternative might be to use the free Microsoft Paint program that comes with every version of Windows. But there are considerable limitations to this program, since it lacks many of the tools and functions of a more advanced program. One of the limitations is in the number of "Undos" you allowed. In Paint you only get three. Another problem is with fact that Paint lacks "Layers" making eraser a bit difficult on occasion. But there are techniques you can use in certain circumstances.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Microsoft Paint. Select "File" and click "Open." In the dialog that pops up browse to the graphics file you have been working on the you want to erase part of. If the area you want to erase is against a white background go to step 2. Otherwise skip to step 3.

    • 2

Select the "Erase" tool and, holding down the right mouse button, drag it over the area you want to erase. The area you erased has now been replaced by the default white background.

    • 3

Select the "Eyedropper" tool (if the area "behind" the section you want to erase is a color other than white). Use the tool to select the the color behind the section you want to get rid of.

    • 4

Select the "Paintbrush" tool from the tool panel and chose the brush size that will work best for the size of the area you want to erase.

    • 5

Use the tool to paint over the area your want to erase. It will disappear into the color behind it. If the area you want to remove has several colors you will have to change colors and possibly brush sizes as you work.
