1
Put the cages side by side and decide where the opening between the cages should be. For your own convenience it is best to have access to two doors, one on either side of the cages. In this case, the backs of the cages should be aligned against each other.
-
2
Use small strips of tape to accurately mark the corners of your new openings on both cages. The edges should be directly under a horizontal bar.
-
-
3
Cut the wires between the taped marks with a wire cutter. Be careful to cut exactly at the marks.
-
4
File down the cut ends as close to the horizontal bars as possible. This will eliminate any danger of the parrot hurting himself.
-
5
Use flexible steel wire to connect the two cages at every intersection between the horizontal and vertical bars on the opening and on the facing sides of the cage.

Tips & Warnings
You will get a sturdier cage if you connect the cages with wire at as many places as possible. If you do not like the look of the wires, you can cover them up with a protective, colored plastic sheet.
Make sure that there are no sharp edges from the wires or the bars.
