How to Make Laurel and Bergamot Hand Soap
Laurel and bergamot hand soap is a simple to make, all-natural hand soap that has a refreshing, light and floral fragrance. Ideal for the normal skin type, this homemade hand soap will effectively cleanse and moisturize the skin without the use of abrasive chemicals, preservatives and unnatural additives often found in commercial products. This recipe makes one cup of liquid hand soap, but you can easily alter the proportions to suit your needs. Store unused soap in a dark, dry place until needed. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 cup distilled water
- Medium saucepan
- 1 cup liquid castile soap
- Glass stirrer or wooden spoon
- 8 drops bay laurel essential oil
- 4 drops bergamot essential oil
- 1/4 tsp. pure olive oil
- 1/4 tsp. avocado oil

Pour the distilled water into a saucepan on the stove. Bring the water to a boil over high heat.

Reduce the heat to low and add the cup of liquid castile soap to the saucepan. Heat for 7 to 10 minutes and stir with a glass stirrer or wooden spoon.

Remove the saucepan from heat. Let the mixture cool for 12 to 15 minutes. Add the bay laurel essential oil, bergamot essential oil, pure olive oil and avocado oil. Stir the mixture to combine the ingredients.

Let the mixture cool at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes. Transfer the soap to a glass bottle with a pump or a plastic squeeze bottle. Shake gently before each use.

Tips & Warnings
If you have particularly oily skin, leave the avocado oil out of the soap. It can be too oily in combination with the pure olive oil for those with oily skin. If you have extremely dry skin, increase the avocado oil to 1/2 tsp.
