How to Write an End of Course Report

An end-of-course report is one way to show what you have learned during a course. Many teachers ask for these reports to see what you have learned. Sometimes the reports will be graded, part of a test, or not counted for grades, depending on the teacher's preferences. If you are asked to write a report about the course you have just taken, there are several ways to do this. The most important thing is to follow a specific process to create a good overall report.

Instructions

    • 1

Read the course description, if your instructor gave you a description, or review the course syllabus.

    • 2

Follow the directions that you were given for writing the end-of-course report. This could be something completely different from the process outlined here. If your instructor wants a particular format, specific questions, or a certain type of report, be sure to do exactly that. Check if there is a format to use.

    • 3

Create a course report in which you write down questions, and then write out the answers according to your opinions about the course.

    • 4

List and answer the following questions: What was the main aim of this class? What were the goals for my performance in this class? What was I supposed to get out of this course? What could I take away from this course? Answer each question fully, giving your views.

Consider how much effort you put into each part of the course. Use the syllabus to list the graded elements, such as assignments, tests and presentations. Next to each graded part, list a percentage showing how much effort you feel you put into that section of the course. The teacher needs this information to know how you feel you have done as compared to the grades she has given you.
