How to Use a DVD RAM Disc
A DVD-RAM disc is a type of optical storage disc that is used primarily with computer data. You can burn files to it just like a regular DVD-R, and can reuse it multiple times like a DVD-RW. However, the added benefit of a DVD-RAM disc is that it has the capacity to be written to and rewritten to 100 more times than you would be able to use a similar DVD-R or DVD-RW disc. To use a DVD-RAM disc, you need a DVD burner.

1
Make sure the DVD burner in your computer has the capacity to use DVD-RAM discs. If it does, the DVD-RAM logo will be written on the front of the device.
-
2
Put your DVD-RAM disc in your computer's DVD burner.

3
Open your computer's CD/DVD burning software. The specific program that you use doesn't matter. Select "File" and then "New." Select "Data Disc" from the listing of different types of discs you can burned. DVD-RAM discs are mainly designed for data, so if you want to use it properly you should back up regular computer files.
-
4
Drag all of the data you want to burn to your DVD-RAM disc into the "burn list" section of your CD/DVD burning software. This will tell the program that you want to archive these specific files to the DVD-RAM disc.
-
5
Press "Burn." This will engage your DVD burner, which will digitize all of the files you have created and write them to the data layer on your DVD-RAM disc. DVD-RAM discs are typically double sided, meaning that once you have filled up one side you can flip the disc over in your burner and write another 4.7GB worth of information to the second side.
