How to Convert a PowerPoint Slide into a DVD Slide Show

PowerPoint presentations have a number of benefits. They are easy to create and show to friends and family as well as audience members at an important presentation. That said, your presentation options might be limited because you need to have PowerPoint to run the presentation. When a computer is not available, your best option is to convert your PowerPoint slide show into a DVD slide show that can be played on any standard DVD player.

Instructions

    • 1

Download DVD creation software if you do not have it already. Almost every computer that comes with a DVD burner has this type of software pre-installed. It will often either be the same program you use to burn standard DVDs, or share a brand name with that software as part of the same suite of programs. If you cannot locate DVD creation software on your computer, turn to the Internet. Links to an example program are located below under Resources.

    • 2

Launch your DVD creation software and create a new DVD slide show.

    • 3

Click on an option that enables you to insert a file, picture, slide or PowerPoint presentation.

    • 4

Select the PowerPoint presentation by browsing your computer.

    • 5

Your entire PowerPoint presentation should appear in your playlist in the DVD creation program you are using. Using the software, finalize your DVD and burn it to disc. The PowerPoint slide show will now play in any standard DVD drive.

Tips & Warnings

  • In addition to downloading and buying a DVD creation program, you are likely to find Internet-based options. For example, you can upload your PowerPoint presentation to a website and then return back a few hours later to claim the files in DVD format; all you need to do is burn the disc. There is also the old-fashioned approach of pointing a webcam at your screen and recording the PowerPoint slide as it plays. This approach is free and easy, but the video quality will suffer.
