How to Change From PayPal to Sandbox

The PayPal Sandbox is a function of PayPal's merchant services that lets e-commerce stores, and other Web-based sellers that use PayPal, test various PayPal features without exchanging any money or using customer's names, addresses, phone numbers or credit card information. This also allows Web developers to troubleshoot any potential problems with integrating the PayPal system with their websites without disabling access to their customers. The Sandbox lets developers test "Buy Now" buttons, shopping cart purchases, instant payment notification (IPN), refunds and recurring subscription purchases.

Create test accounts by going to the Test Accounts tab, then clicking the "Create Account" link. Create at least one seller (business) account and one buyer (personal or premier) account. You may want more than one of each for testing different features.

Enter the Sandbox Test Site, from the "Test Accounts" tab, and begin executing test transactions similar to the kind of transactions you would expect to see on your website. For example, if you sell subscriptions, you would must make sure that the subscription feature properly charged your test customer's credit card on a regular basis according to the terms of the subscription such as daily or weekly or monthly. If you use a shopping cart, you want to make sure that the entire order including the customer information as well as the products they ordered are transferred to your account properly and fully so that you can fulfill the order.
