How to Stack Flat Screen Computer Monitors
Studies have shown that working with two monitors on one computer can boost productivity. Usually, those two monitors are set up up side by side, but some users may want to stack their monitors vertically. This make sense for the use of programs involving long documents like spreadsheets. There are special monitor stands designed to stack multiple flat screen displays.

1
Power off the monitors, unplug them and detach the power and computer cables from the rear of the displays.
-
2
Remove the desktop stands and bases from the monitors. This process will vary with the model and manufacturer of the monitors. Look for screws or plastic tabs where the base attaches to the main part of the monitor. Consult the manual or check with tech support for more details.

3
Mount the monitors to the vertical stand. Look for a VESA standard mounting interface on the back of the displays. This is a pattern of four holes that match up to the four-hole bracket on the monitor stand. Place the metal bracket flush with the four holes on the monitor and attach the screws firmly in each corner using a screwdriver. Repeat with the second monitor.

4
Attach the vertical monitor stand to the desk. Depending on the stand, this may require using the included vice grip or bolting it directly to the desk. Some stands are free standing.

5
Reattach the computer cables and power cords to the back of the displays. Turn on the computer to use your new monitor setup.

Tips & Warnings
Quad stands are also available for arranging monitors in a double-stack, double-wide pattern.
Choose a free-standing solution if you will need to move the monitors or need to be careful to not damage the desk.
Some monitors may need an adapter plate if they do not meet the VESA mounting standard.
