How to Use Microsoft Works with Word Art

Microsoft Works is an integrated software suite that includes the a variety of programs, including a database, spreadsheet and word processor. The word processor application allows you to create a wide variety of documents, including novels, user guides, pamphlets, posters, fliers and more. The application is also similar to Microsoft Word and features many editing options to help adjust the text to meet your preferences. For example, with the Word Art feature in Microsoft Works, you can design a more attractive title for your document.

Instructions

      Open a document in Microsoft Works' word processor.. Click within the document where you want your new text to appear.

      Click on the “Insert” option from the top toolbar menu and then click on the “Word Art” option.

      Enter the text that you want to appear in your document into the blank text box. Click on the “Update Text” button and then the text will appear on the page.

      Select the shape of your text from the “Plain Text” drop-down menu. Click on the “Font” drop-down menu to select the type of font for your text.

      Click on the drop-down menu next to the “Font” drop-down menu to select how you want your text to fit within the text box.

      Click on the “Ee” icon from the Word Art toolbar to make the uppercase and lowercase letters appear at the same height. Click on the icon with the sideways “A” to make your letter appear sideways.

      Click on the icon with the “A” and an arrow next to it to make your letters stretch. Click on the “Shade” icon to add a shade effect or color to your letters and click on the “Shadow” icon to add a shadow effect to your text.

Tips & Warnings

  • Word Art was removed from Microsoft Works as of version 8.5.
