How to Remove a Pacifica Power Steering Pump
by Robert GoodThroughout the life of the Chrysler Pacifica, the power-steering pump is under constant use and stress. When the power-steering pump starts to burn out or completely dies, you'll have to remove the pump from the engine compartment and replace it. You will need a couple of household tools and about 30 minutes to complete this job.
Step 1
Open the hood of the Chrysler Pacifica. Look at the firewall toward the rear of the engine compartment on the driver's side and locate the power-steering pump. The pump will have a plastic container on the top with fluid inside. The black cap on the top of the container will say "Power Steering Fluid."
Step 2
Place the 20 oz. cup under the pump. With pliers, remove the nut that is connecting the hose to the bottom of the pump. Allow the fluid to drain into the cup. Pull the hose away from the pump.
Step 3
Remove the nut that is securing the belt to the pulley and remove the belt from the pump.
Step 4
Remove the bolts that are securing the power-steering pump to the firewall. The bolts are on the back of the pump. Use the ratchet set to remove the bolts.
Step 5
Pull the pump out of the engine housing.
