How to Find Deleted History in Windows on Internet Explorer

Some people have the habit of deleting their History on Internet Explorer so no one can see what websites they've visited. Other computers automatically delete the history after a certain amount of days. If you've accidentally deleted your history (or the computer deleted it on its own) and you need to revisit those pages but can't remember the websites--or you're doing a little snooping around--there is a way to pull up the deleted history. Pulling up the deleted history will give you access to every website and Internet page any user on that computer has ever visited.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Start" button at the lower-left corner of the desktop.

    • 2

Double-click on "All Programs" from the Start menu.

    • 3

      Click on "Accessories."

    • 4

Scroll down until you find "Disk Cleanup" and click on it.

    • 5

Click on "My Files" then the "(C:)" file from the drop-down box if the choice is given. Many computers will just take you directly to the Cleanup page.

    • 6

Click on the "Temporary Internet Files and Downloaded Files" box to check the box. Then click "View Files."

    • 7

Double-click on each folder that appears. Each folder will contain many (sometimes hundreds) of different Internet files. These files will include: the websites visited, the history, pictures, movies, songs, etc. You will be able to view anything that doesn't require a password to get into. When you open each folder, you can click on the specific website and click "Restore" (or simply double-click) to view it.
