Computer and information system managers are the people who minimize downtime and supervise technicians to keep the system running. To determine if such a job is right for you, make sure you have both the technical and leadership skills to manage a computer network and to find your way out of a crisis if everything goes wrong. You also may be responsible for purchasing new IT equipment and making decisions on when to make expensive upgrades.

A bachelor's degree in a computer-related field usually is required for management positions, although employers often prefer a graduate degree, especially an MBA with technology as a core component.
