How to Handle Phone Solicitors
If you tire of phone solicitors calling you when you have no interest in the products and services they offer you, you can start doing something to reduce the amount of calls you receive. While you can choose not to answer your phone or answer and hang up, these actions won't deter the solicitors from dialing your number over and over again. Answer your phone, and tell the solicitor that you want to be added to their company's do-not-call list.

Provide verification of your name and your phone number only. Do not give the solicitor any other personal information; they don't need it.

Write down the name of the solicitor, the company from which he is calling and the date you requested to be placed on their do-not-call list. Add to the list as you notify solicitors that you no longer want to be contacted by them.

Repeat your request to the company if they call you back after five years. The Federal Communications Commission requires solicitors to honor your do-not-call request for five years at a time.
