How to Upgrade Your RAM With USB for Windows XP

While the best way to upgrade your system memory is to physically install additional RAM, the second best method is to upgrade your RAM virtually through the use of the paging file in Windows XP.       Connect the USB drive (also called a jump drive, flash drive or thumb drive) to an available USB port on the computer.

      Right-click on your "My Computer" icon and select the "Properties" option.

      Select the "Advanced" tab and click on the "Settings" option under the "Performance" tab.

      Select the "Advanced" tab again and push the "Change" button under the virtual memory settings.

      Choose your flash drive letter, select the tab for "System Managed Size" and push the "Set" button.

      Reboot the machine to complete the changes.
