Patches And Transfers
-
1
Purchase an iron-on transfer or patch for your hat. There are many iron-on patches and transfers that can be found in craft stores. You can find pattern designs, logos and even words to adhere to your hat.
-
2
Lay your skull cap on your ironing board and iron it flat on a medium heat setting to prepare a flat surface for your transfer or patch.
-
-
3
Place your patch or transfer onto the spot where you want it adhered to your hat. Patches should be placed image side up, while transfers should be placed image side down.
-
4
Run over the patch or transfer with your iron carefully with moderate pressure. Do not keep the iron still at any moment, as the patch or transfer could burn.
-
5
Allow the patch or transfer to cool before touching it with your hands. Peel back the backing on the transfer (if you used a transfer) and discard it.
Yarn Weave Design
-
6
Fold the brim of your skull cap up as you would if you were wearing it. Try it on to be sure it is folded in a comfortable spot.
-
7
Thread some yarn onto your sewing needle and work it in and out of the material in your brim.
-
8
Create designs or simple colored lines with the yarn. Use multiple colors if you like, but tie off the ends before moving on to the next strand of yarn.
-
9
Cut off all of the excess yarn. Remove the yarn and replace it with other colors whenever you want to change your look.
