How to Reinstall Internet Explorer With Service Pack 3
If you have removed Windows Service Pack 3 for any reason, you can reinstall it to get the updates and security protection needed for your operating system. Using automatic updates is a recommended way of getting service packs reinstalled on your computer. You can choose to have your computer updated automatically, or you can download the update from the Download Center.

Open your browser and go to the Microsoft Download Center. See "Resources."

On the Microsoft Download Center page look under "Download Resource," and you see "Service Packs." Click "Windows XP Service Pack 3." The Service Pack 3 page is displayed with your options for reinstalling these updates using a download or automatic updates.

To automatically update your version of Windows XP, by click "Learn about automatically updating Windows XP" in the "Related links" section of this webpage. Go to step 4.
To download Windows XP Service Pack 3 immediately, eliminating the wait for automatic updates, click "Download SP3 from Windows Update." Go to step 5.

If you click "Learn about automatically updating Windows XP," follow the step-by-step instructions for receiving automatic updates. Click "Microsoft Update" and click "Run" if prompted to execute Microsoft Update. On the right side of the Welcome to Microsoft Update page is the automatic update information for your computer. Click the link in the "Automatic Update" box if you want to choose the time to install the updates.

If you click "Download SP3 from Window Update," a dialog box is displayed asking you to run Microsoft Update. Click "Run," and the Welcome to Microsoft Update page is displayed with options to reinstall Windows Service Pack 3. Always choose the recommended option, which is "Express." This installs the Windows Service Pack 3 updates needed to protect your computer.
