How to Make Fleece Pajamas
Fleece is a soft fabric that is moderately thick and soft to the touch. It can be dyed in many colors and can be found in graphic prints as well. Fleece is durable, easy to wash and comfortable. In winter, fleece keeps you warm but also allows the skin to "breathe."

1
Measure your arm starting at the shoulder. Record the measurement on the paper. Measure the torso length starting at the shoulder and going all the way down to a little below your hip. Record that measurement. Measure your inseam, starting at your crotch and measuring to your heel. Record that as well. Measure your hip width by making a belt with the measuring tape, and record that measurement.

Go to a fabric store with the measurements in hand. Choose a pattern that is as close to your measurements as possible; the chart on the back can guide you. Note that there will be a few different sizes on your pattern, so you can opt to make things as loose-fitting or as tight as you want.

3
Consult your pattern to see if you will be making a top with or without buttons. Choose a pattern based on your sewing level. Look for patterns that say "easy" or "beginners" on the package. See if your garments require any notions: sewing accessories such as elastic, zippers, buttons, ribbon or anything else that is not actual fabric. Gather these now.

4
Locate the fleece fabrics and choose the one you want. Consult the pattern and find out how much fabric is recommended. Buy one yard extra to allow for mistakes or repairs.
-
5
Cut out your paper pattern. Pin the paper to the fabric and cut out the fabric. Follow the instructions on the pattern. Look for a diagram; this will show you how to make the most out of your fabric and reduce waste. Label your fabric pieces with chalk or a fabric marker.
-
6
Pin your fabric pieces together using the recommended seam allowance. Thread your sewing machine. Sew the pieces together with the design sides facing in toward each other. Sew the seams so the fabric will be on the inside after you turn your garment right side out.
-
7
Feed your elastic through the waist of your pants and hand-sew the holes shut. Add buttons and finish the button holes, if you opted to use this type of design. Hem the pants and sleeves. Use a few pins to determine the length and take them to the sewing machine. Use a top stitch to finish the hems. Top stitch the collar or pocket if your pattern has one. Try on your creation and make any needed adjustments.

Tips & Warnings
Consult your sewing machines owner's manual if you are not sure which stitch style and thread tension level is ideal for fleece fabric. Try the pieces on as you go to be sure they will fit correctly.
Take out pins before trying on any pieces.
It's important to use high-quality scissors for this project. Find a pair designed specifically for heavy-duty fabrics.
