How to Detangle Curly Hair with an Oil Rinse
Many beauty supply stores sell products marketed specifically for hair oil treatments. You may also choose to blend your own oil treatment. Suitable oils include lavender oil, jojoba oil, tea tree oil, castor oil, olive oil, grape seed oil, apricot oil and almond oil. Heating these oils allow them to penetrate the hair shaft better and smooth the cuticle. Once the hair cuticle strands are smoothed, strands separate from each other naturally without manual manipulation. In addition to disentangling, oil treatments condition hair and prevent damage from styling. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Heat water for approximately three minutes in a microwave or on a stove. If you heat water on a stove, pour it from the sauce pan into a heat-resistant bowl. If you heat water in a microwave-safe bowl, be careful not to splash the hot water onto your skin and avoid contact with the steam upon removal.
-
2
Pour oil into a heat-resistant bottle. A bottle with a spout is optimal because the spout allows the oil to be applied directly to the scalp after heating.
-
-
3
Put the oil-filled bottle into the bowl of hot water. Leave it in the water for three to five minutes to heat it up to the temperature of the water.
-
4
Use hair clips to loosely section off your hair. Do this while the oil is heating up.
-
5
Pour some oil into the palm of your hand to test the temperature. This is especially important if your oil bottle has a spout. Very hot oil can burn your scalp if poured on directly.
-
6
Drape a towel around your neck to protect your skin or clothes from oil that may drip down from your hair and scalp. Some oils leave permanent stains on your clothes.
-
7
Release one clip from a section.
-
8
Drizzle oil from the spout or use your fingertips to apply oil to the hairline and parted areas of scalp around the sectioned off hair.
-
9
Pull apart sectioned hair with your fingertips and apply oil to scalp within the section. Massage oil into the scalp during the process. Gently guide the oil from the scalp down to hair ends. If you drizzle the oil, use your fingertips to massage it into your scalp and gently rub it downward to the ends of the hair.
-
10
Clip the sectioned hair back up when you are done oiling it. This will allow the oil to penetrate while the rest of the hair is being oiled.
-
11
Release each section individually and repeat until the entire head and scalp is oiled.
-
12
Release each section again and gently comb through tangles starting with the ends of the hair. Do not comb from root to tip. Disentangling will be easy because the hot oil has penetrated the shaft.
-
13
Cover hair with plastic cap and sit under a hooded dryer for added oil penetration -- this is optional.
-
14
Wash as usual and rinse with hot water.
