Using Styling Putty
-
1
Wash your hair with the products you normally use and blow-dry your hair, until slightly damp, with your fingers. Do not use a comb or brush while blow-drying.
-
2
Squeeze a dime-sized amount of styling putty onto your fingertips, and pat your fingertips together to loosen up the putty for application.
-
-
3
Rake the styling putty through your hair with your fingers to evenly distribute it. Begin applying the putty at the roots and distribute it to the ends, while twisting sections of hair together, for extreme texture.
Hair Cut and Styling for Texture
-
4
Ask your stylist to cut your hair in choppy layers. The different lengths of hair will lay upon one another and create texture.
-
5
Wet set your hair. Shampoo, towel dry and add mousse to your hair. Roll your hair in sponge rollers and allow it to dry naturally, or sit under a hair dryer until dry.
-
6
Remove the sponge rollers, and immediately roll the curls in hot rollers. Allow the rollers to completely cool and remove. Gently arrange your curls with your fingers and spray with a firm hold hairspray.

Tips & Warnings
Ask your stylist for advice regarding a cut, or even a perm, that will texturize your particular hair.
Use only the manufacturer's recommended amount of styling putty. If you use too much, your hair will appear sticky instead of texturized.
Avoid having your hair cut into too many layers, as this can cause the hair to fall flat.
