How to Change the IDE Controller Driver in Windows XP
The IDE controller driver allows your operating system to utilize hardware--such as hard drives and optical drives--attached to the IDE channel. Changing the IDE controller driver may be necessary if the old driver is outdated or is causing error messages within your system. Accomplishing this is a fairly easy task that can be completed through the use of the Windows XP Device Manager.
