How to Make My Plastic Curtains
Plastic curtains can be used for purposes other than a shower curtain. A mountain or lake cabin with plastic window treatments can be cleaned quickly with a damp sponge. Plastic curtains can be used in the garage to protect items on shelves from dust or hide clutter. Plastic or vinyl curtains do not require a sewing machine because there is no need for seams, making this a quick home project. Plastic or vinyl can be purchased at fabric stores. Instructions

-
1
Measure the length and width of the area that will be covered by the curtain. To create a fuller panel, multiply the width by 1.5.
-
2
Cut the plastic according to the measurements. Cut the plastic in half going lengthwise if you need two panels.
-
-
3
Mark the top of the curtain for the placement of grommets. Place the mark 1 inch below the top of the curtain. Start by spacing the markings every 6 inches. Adjust the marks to create even spacing between the grommets.
-
4
Center the first marked spot over a wood block. You will need a solid surface to pound the grommet into place.
-
5
Place the smaller grommet circle on the side that will be facing out. Place the larger grommet piece under the smaller piece so that the plastic is sandwiched between the two grommets.
-
6
Using the grommet tools provided with the grommet kit, pound lightly with a hammer to attach the top and bottom grommet.
-
7
Cut the plastic from the center using a utility knife.
-
8
Attach rings to the grommets and hook to the curtain rod.
