How to Fix the MBR in Windows Vista

The master boot record (MBR) is a part of the hard drive that tells the computer's operating system how the storage is partitioned and where the boot files are located. The master boot record is the first section on the hard drive. Occasionally, the master boot record becomes corrupted or accidentally deleted. This causes the machine to hang at bootup. Vista has a recovery tool you can use to repair the MBR.
