How to Put a Logo in an Outlook Express Signature

People rely upon email every day for both personal and professional communications. When receiving email from a colleague or business associate, you may notice that a signature is included at the bottom of the email. A signature is a bit of text that identifies the user. This information usually includes the person's name, title, organization, phone number and email address. Sometimes the sender also includes the company logo in her signature. If you use Outlook Express as your email client and you're comfortable with basic HTML, add a logo to your own signature.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Folder and Image

    • 1

      Create a new folder on your hard drive. Name it "Signature."

    • 2

      Open the logo you want to use in your signature.

    • 3

      Click "File" and then "Save As."

    • 4

      Save the file to the new folder you just created. Call it logo.jpg.

    Create the HTML File

    • 5

      Open the Notepad application.

    • 6

      Type the following code into it:

      <img width=68 height=62 src="C:\Signature\logo.jpg">
      <br>
      <p><span style='font-size:14.0pt;font-family:Georgia; color:#F95407'>Your name</span>
      <br>
      <span style='font-size:10.5pt;font-family:Georgia; color:#006C55'>Your Company</span>
      <br>
      <p><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Georgia; color:#F95407'>Your Phone</span></p>

    • 7

      Enter your real information instead of "Your name," "Your Company," and "Your Phone."

    • 8

      Click "File" and then "Save As."

    • 9

      Save the file to the "Signature" folder on your hard drive. Name it "signature.html."

    Configure Outlook

    • 10

      Open Outlook Express.

    • 11

      Click on "Tools" and then click on "Options." A new window will open.

    • 12

      Click the tab called "Signatures" and then click on "New."

    • 13

      Click the check box next to "Add signatures to all outgoing messages."

    • 14

      Click the radio button at the bottom next to the word "File."

    • 15

      Click "Browse."

    • 16

      Open the Signature folder that you saved to your hard drive.

    • 17

      Select the file called signature.html.

    • 18

      Click "Apply."

    • 19

      Click "OK." Your signature, including your logo, will now be added to all email you send.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your image appears distorted, adjust the "width" and "height" settings until your logo appears correctly. Width and height are measured in pixels, so small changes can make a big difference. Experiment until you're happy with the logo's appearance.

  • If you use a different letter to represent your hard drive, use that letter instead of "C:" in Step 2 of Section 2.

  • Do not delete the "Signature" folder on your hard drive. Outlook Express uses the contents of the folder to include the signature in your email.
