How to Customize Your Mac Dashboard

Mac's dashboard feature has revolutionized computer personalization. It gives you a space to put only the widgets and features that you want; and there are hundreds to choose from.

  1. Setting Up Your Dashboard

      Click on the dashboard logo on the bottom tool menu, it resembles a gauge that you would see in the dashboard of your car. If you cannot find the logo, or it does not appear on your toolbar, you can search for it by clicking the magnifying lens in the top right corner of the screen.

      When dashboard opens, it will do so with the default widgets and features. To adjust them, click on the plus sign that is in the bottom left corner of the screen. A toolbar will pop up from the bottom of the screen, and each logo will get a small "x" in the upper left-hand corner.

      To open a new widget, simply click on it in the toolbar. It will pop up, and you can drag it to wherever you want. To delete any widgets, just close them with the "x."

      To get new features that you do not have, click on "widgets" and then click the button "more widgets." This will transfer you to a website that has thousands of widgets available for download. When you have downloaded the ones you want, they will appear in the Dashboard Toolbar, and you will be able to add them to your screen like any other widget.

Tips & Warnings

  • There are literally thousands of widgets, so make sure you look into as many you can, to make sure you are getting the most out of your dashboard.
