1
Clean wool suits only two times a year. Most wool suits are dry-clean only. If you must wash your wool suit at home, hand-wash it with a mild detergent in warm water. Rinse thoroughly and lay the suit flat to dry. Iron the suit on the wool setting on the iron and use steam when pressing.
-
2
Dust off the suit as needed using a garment brush. Brush the suit jacket and pants lengthwise.

3
Remove stains from wool suits promptly. Blot the fabric to remove as much of the stain as possible with a clean, white towel. Use a stain remover that is safe for wool fabric to remove the stain. Dry-clean the suit, if needed.
-
4
Hang suit jackets on contoured suit hangers to preserve the shape of the shoulders. Plastic or wire hangers will damage the shoulders of the suits over time. Keep suit jackets unbuttoned while hanging and position the lapels to overlap one another.
-
5
Hang suit pants on pant clamp hangers upside down. This will keep the crease of the pants intact. Leave the pants unzipped and unbuttoned while hanging.
-
6
Store wool suits in a closet where they have plenty of room to breathe. Keep the suit uncovered and away from direct heat. If possible, place some cedar wood in the closet to help deter moths and other bugs. Otherwise, place some mothballs in a loosely woven piece of fabric and hang it near the wool suits.
-
7
Allow wool suits to hang for at least 24 hours in between wearing. This will help wrinkles to fall out and restore the original shape of the suit.
