How to Find a Medigap Insurer

If you're worried about paying for health care costs that aren't covered under your original Medicare plan, having a Medigap policy can help ease that financial burden.

Medigap policies, which are subject to Federal and State laws, offer coverage for benefits that aren't included in your Medicare Part A and Part B plans. You can choose from up to 12 standardized policies with varying costs. You can find private insurance companies in your area that sell Medigap coverage with a quick online search.

Instructions

1. Visit the "Medicare Options Compare" page listed under "References." Click "Find and Compare Medigap Policies." Enter your ZIP code. Provide your age range and health status if you wish. Indicate whether or not you have a Medigap policy. Click "Continue."

2. Review the list of available Medigap policies in your area. Click "View Details" under the policy type you're interested in.

3. Click "View All Companies" under the "Where to Buy Policy" section on the policy type details page to see a list of local companies that offer that particular policy.
