How to Create Professional & Glamorous Make-up for the Office

Looking too done up at work takes quite a bit of effort---and time---but looking nice at the office is important to many women. Makeup for work must look professional at all times, but it can also look glamorous with the right colors and technique. A soft brown eyeshadow, dark eyeliner and well-groomed eyebrows work well in the office environment. With a few tips and tricks you can do your makeup like a pro and still look appropriate for any work setting.

Things You'll Need

• Makeup primer
• Foundation
• Foundation brush
• Matte bronzer
• Bronzer brush
• Eyebrow comb
• Taupe-colored eyeshadow
• Shadow brush
• Dark brown eyeliner
• Brown-black mascara
• Rosy pink lipstick

Instructions

1. Apply a line-filling makeup primer to your face with your fingers. This creates a smooth surface and helps makeup last longer.

2. Pat foundation onto the face with a foundation brush. Foundation creates a smooth, even skin tone and masks blemishes. Use long, somewhat firm strokes to blend the product into the skin.

3. Cover the foundation with a matte bronzer on the hollows of the cheeks. Suck your cheeks in and you'll see the area below your cheek bones pulled in. These are the hollows. Use a bronzer brush to gently sweep the color onto the hollows. Bronzer adds a touch of glamor without going overboard. A matte bronzer looks more office-appropriate than a shimmering bronzer.

4. Comb your tweezed or waxed eyebrows with an eyebrow comb. Comb upward in one direction to smooth out the hairs. Even if you don't regularly tweeze your eyebrows, combing them makes them look fuller and cleaner.

5. Pat a taupe eyeshadow onto the eyelid using a shadow brush. Taupe is a soft, barely noticeable color that helps any eye color look somewhat soft.

6. Line your lower lash line with a dark brown eyeliner.

7. Comb through the upper eyelashes only with a brown-black mascara. Wiggle the wand as you comb through to reduce clumping. Dark lashes with exceptional length from a mascara add a touch of femininity that stays office-appropriate.

8. Apply a rosy pink lipstick to the lips. Use your finger to apply the lipstick. This makes the color look more natural.
