How to Open Multiple Attachments in an Email

Many operating systems include a function that allows the user to open multiple attachments in an email. If you work in a situation where you receive several email attachments on a regular basis, this function can save time. Be careful though, since once you select "open" in your operating system, there is no going back and all of the attachments will open. If they are large files, such as photos, this could bog down your system.

Instructions

  1. Windows-based System

    • 1

      Open Outlook or Outlook Express.

    • 2

Click on the message that contains the attachments. The message will expand and open.

    • 3

Hold down the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard and left-click each of the attachments icons. Right-click and select "Open." All of the attachments will open.

    Mac-based System

    • 4

Open your Mail or Entourage program on your Mac.

    • 5

Double-click the email on which the attachments reside. This will open the message.

    • 6

Click the small arrow at the bottom of the header. It will be next to the paperclip. The attachments will appear. Run your cursor over all of the attachments that you want to open. This will highlight them.

    • 7

Click on the highlighted area and select "Open Selected Attachments." All of the attachments will open.
