How to Do a Basic Facial
A facial is a series of cleansing and treatment steps aimed at improving and rejuvenating the skin through the use of deep cleansing, massage, masks and exfoliation. - Eye makeup remover
- Cotton balls
- Water
- Clean towels
- Facial cleanser (for skin type)
- Facial spatula
- Facial sponge (optional)
- Steamer
- Astringent
- Cotton strips
- Massage cream (for skin type)
- Warm towel (optional)
- Cleansing pad
- Treatment mask (for skin type)
- Facial brush
- Toner (for skin type)
- Moisturizer (for skin type)

Remove eye makeup and lipstick using makeup remover and cotton balls. Gently remove the makeup using downward and outward strokes with the cotton ball until the eyelids, lashes and lips are clean. Rinse the area with water to remove any residual eye makeup remover and pat dry with a clean towel.

Remove about a half of a tsp. of cleanser from the container with the facial spatula. From the spatula, place a small amount between your fingertips. Using upward and outward strokes with both hands, apply the cleanser to the neck first and move up to the remainder of the face. Continue to make circular motions on the face to apply and spread the cleanser.

Remove the cleanser using a moist cotton ball or facial sponge employing the same pattern used to apply the cleanser. Blot your hands with a clean towel and then touch the face to ensure all of the cleanser and residue has been removed.

Turn on the facial steamer to preheat. Once it begins to steam, turn on the ozone. Steam your face for five to 10 minutes, being careful not to place the assembly too close to the face. Upon completion, turn off the steamer.

Remove any blackheads or blemishes while the skin is still warm by wrapping your fingertips with wet cotton strips saturated with astringent and exerting firm pressure on the skin surrounding the blackhead with your fingertips. Remove the blackhead from the area once it has lifted from the skin follicle.

Massage the skin with massage cream that appropriately matches your skin type. Use the same method for apply massage cream that was used to apply the cleanser. Use circular motions to massage the face. Remove the massage cream using a warm towel or cleansing pad.

Apply the treatment mask that matches your skin type and condition using a facial brush. Start at the neck and move upwards to the face, then use slow strokes that start at the center of the face and move outward. Allow the mask to remain on the face for seven to 10 minutes.

Remove the mask with wet cotton balls or towels. Apply toner (based upon skin type) to the skin with a cotton ball.

Apply moisturizer, including any lip- and eye-specific creams, to the skin. Ensure the moisturizer matches your skin type.

Tips & Warnings
Always use facial spatulas to remove cleansers, massage creams and treatment masks from containers in order to avoid contamination from bacteria on hands.
When removing makeup from the eye area, be gentle and never rub or stretch the skin, as it is very delicate and can be easily damaged.
