Most wireless adapters typically are enabled upon their installation. However, there may be cases where if you have to reinstall the adapter's driver, or if you removed the adapter, you will need to re-enable the wireless adapter. Re-enabling the wireless adapter will allow you to use it to connect to wireless networks and use wireless Internet again.

Go to the Start Menu and click on "Control Panel" on the menu that appears.

Double-click the "System" icon.

Click the "Hardware" tab in the window that appears, then click on "Device Manager" if you have Windows XP. Windows Vista and later users should click the "Device Manager" on the left of the window.

Click on the "Network Adapters" icon in the list that appears. Find your wireless adapter.

Right-click on the wireless adapter and click "Enable."
