Remove a design template with just a few simple steps, which will prevent you from having to completely redo your presentation.

      Open Microsoft PowerPoint. From the File menu select "Open" and locate the file on your computer. Once you find the file, double-click to open it in PowerPoint.

      Click on the "Slide Design" icon on the toolbar located in the "Format" menu. Once you click this, the "Slide Design" pane will open. Look for the design template you are using in your presentation under "Available for Use."

      Locate the "Default Design.dot" template located under "Available for Use." Click on the slide you wish to remove the template from by holding down the "Ctrl"key on your keyboard, and then click "Apply to Selected Slides." In order to remove the template from all the slides, right-click on the "Default Design" and choose "Apply to All Slides."

      Remove the template design from the slide master. Click on the "Slide Design" task pane, and right-click on the "Default Design.dot" template and choose "Apply to Master."

      Save your presentation document. Choose "Save" from the "File Menu."
