How to Change the Name of Your Warlock on WOW

Warlocks in the online role-playing game World of Warcraft possess the ability to cast powerful damage spells and summon demons to assist them while fighting. If you want to give your Warlock a more intimidating name or if you made a mistake when you originally named the character, you can use Blizzard's Paid Name Change Service to make the desired change. The service, which became available in October 2007, allows players to change a character's name for a small fee.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit worldofwarcraft.com. Click on "Account" on the left side of the page then select "Manage Account" or click "Account Management" under Quicklinks on the right side of the page.

    • 2

Enter your account name or email address and password in the boxes provided. Click "Log In." If you've purchased a Blizzard Authenticator for extra security, enter the six-digit code in the box provided when prompted.

    • 3

Click "Paid Name Change" in the Paid Services section on the Account Management page.

    • 4

Read through the "Things to Know Before You Start" list and click the link provided to review the World of Warcraft naming policy.

    • 5

Move your cursor over to the type of realm your warlock belongs to, such as PvP (Player vs. Player) or RP (Role-Playing). Select your warlock's realm from the drop-down menu.

    • 6

Find your warlock's name on the list of characters from the selected realm. Click "Change Name."

    • 7

Enter your Warlock's new name in the box provided. Type it again in the box below to confirm the new name. If the name contains special characters or violates the WoW naming policy, you'll see a message stating that the name is not valid. If another player is using that name on the same realm, you'll see a message stating that the name is unavailable. You'll need to enter another new name if you get either of these messages.

    • 8

Review the restrictions and disclaimers on the confirmation page. Type "I Agree" in the box provided.

    • 9

Enter your full name, billing ZIP code and credit card information on the payment page for the non-refundable name change fee. Submit the information and wait for approval, which could take several hours. You can't use your warlock until the name change is approved.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wait at least 20 minutes after you log out of your warlock character before you start the name change process.

  • Blizzard will send you an email if there were any problems completing your name change. Follow the instructions provided to correct or cancel the name change.

  • Let your guildmates and friends know about your warlock's name change. Your character will still be part of the same guild and will remain on friends' lists, but the name will change to the new one.

  • Name changes do not affect existing mail and auctions.

  • You can't reverse the name change process once it's completed. You'll have to wait 30 days if you want to change your warlock's name again. The old name will be unavailable for use on the selected realm for 90 days. After this time, the name will be available for any player to use.
