How to Get Wi-Fi on iPod Touch With Ethernet Connection
The Apple iPod Touch enables you to connect to wireless networks and surf the Internet. If your home currently has an Ethernet Internet connection, you can install a wireless router onto the Ethernet line. This gives you the ability to connect to the Internet even when you are away from your computer. Perform this installation without adding on any wireless Internet access to your current monthly Internet billing statement.

3
Launch an Internet browser on the computer, then look on the bottom of the wireless router. You can find a URL listed (it begins with "http"). Type this into the search bar of the browser. The activation information for the wireless router appears on the screen. Type in the username and password if required (typically, this is "admin" for both), then select whether you are using it with any other routers, choose whether it is for a home or business, and select a new password. Click "OK" to confirm and activate the wireless router. Remove the Ethernet cable from the computer leading to the router.

4
Power on your Apple iPod and pres the "Settings" icon on the screen. The icon looks like three gears moving.
-
5
Select "Wi-Fi," and the iPod Touch looks for any Wi-Fi signals in the area. Select your wireless Internet source and type in your username and password if asked. The iPod then confirms the password and connects you to the Internet.
