How to Clean Incolay Stone Jewelry Boxes

The incolay jewelry box is a beautiful way to store your jewelry pieces. It is an intricate piece of artwork of sculptured layered stone. The carved incolay is a combination of colored natural minerals and coupling agents. Each piece is hand-crafted, so there are no two identical. Incolay is owned by Schaedler-Schmidt, Inc. To clean an incolay jewelry box, you need to use a gentle hand. The incolay jewelry boxes are priceless works of art, passed down through generations.

Instructions

    • 1

Blow away loose dust on your incolay jewelry box with a blow dryer. Use the no-heat setting for this. If it needs more cleaning than this, proceed to the next step.

    • 2

Brush the dirt away gently using a soft bristled toothbrush. Begin in the center of an incolay design. Use the toothbrush in a circular motion, going toward the outer edges of the incolay stone. Proceed to the next step if it needs further cleaning.

    • 3

Mix 1 tsp. of dish soap and add one qt. of warm water. Clean the surface doing one-inch increments at a time. Dip a clean soft-bristled toothbrush or soft rag into the soapy water. Gently scrub the incolay stone.

    • 5

Dry the incolay jewelry box with a soft, absorbent towel. To finish removing all the moisture, use a hairdryer on the lowest setting.
