How to Get Rid of a Yellow Ring on a Shirt Neck Collar

Putting on a crisp white shirt can make you look great, but seeing an ugly, discolored ring in the collar calls for some stain removal action. Even people who take frequent showers and don't work in dirty environments can acquire yellow stains on their shirt collars due to a build-up of natural skin oil and dirt. Luckily, you can use some simple remedies to return your shirt to its original brightness.

Things You'll Need

• Dish detergent
• Water
• Washer
• Bleach
• Brush

Instructions

1. Squirt a few drops of a de-greasing liquid dish detergent onto the stain and rub it in vigorously with a soft, nylon bristled brush.

2. Allow the shirt to soak in the detergent for about 10 minutes.

3. Wash in cold water with your regular laundry detergent.

4. Dab a mixture of two parts water and one part bleach onto the collar if the previous steps don't work, and rub the collar together for one minute. Again, follow with a cold water wash.

5. Place the shirts in direct sunlight to dry for several hours in order to add an extra bit of whiteness to the fabric.
