How to Add a Link to My Tool Bar

Millions of websites on the Internet are visited by thousands of people a day because of their unique and engaging content. When you stumble upon such a site, you know that you'll want to visit it over and over again. While you could write the site name down or try to memorize it, the easiest way to recall a site is to add it to your Internet browser's toolbar. Knowing these steps will allow you to keep your favorite websites at the top of your browser screen at all times for easier access.

      Ensure that your computer is connected to the Internet. You can do this by moving your mouse cursor over the Internet connection icons. If your Internet connection reads as "Connected," you are ready to find your favorite sites.

      Open your favorite Internet browser.

      Use the browser to navigate to a website you want to add a link for in the toolbar.

      In Firefox, put your mouse cursor directly over the tab and click and hold the left mouse button. Drag your mouse cursor to your toolbar. You will notice a small vertical line appear. This signifies where this site will move in relationship to the other sites listed on the toolbar. Release your mouse button to place the site on your toolbar.

      In Internet Explorer, move your mouse cursor to the icon on your toolbar that looks like a yellow star with a green arrow through it. Click the button to add the site to your toolbar.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are using an older browser there may not be a toolbar available to you. In this case, click on "Bookmarks" at the top of your browser and add the desired site to your Bookmarks list.

  • At any time, you can delete these sites from your toolbar by moving your mouse cursor over the icon, right clicking your mouse button, and moving the cursor down to "Delete." Click on "Delete," and the icon will no longer appear on your toolbar.
