How to Gift Wrap Using a Shoe Box
A shoe box is ideal for gift wrapping many items such as candles, figurines, homemade goodies, garments and, of course, shoes. But don't wrap the shoe box like any ordinary gift. Wrap the shoe box so that it becomes a beautiful--and reusable--gift container. Use sturdy paper to wrap both the box and the removable lid. Your recipient will be pleased with your wrapping technique, as well as the twofold gift: the present itself and the box it came in.

Gift Wrap the Box
-
1
Measure the interior sides and bottom of the shoe box. Cut construction paper to fit the measurements. Spray adhesive on each piece of construction paper, and glue into place inside the box. Allow to dry.
-
2
Unroll a portion of the wrapping paper. Place the shoe box horizontally on the unprinted side of the wrapping paper. Adjust the box so that it sits about 10 inches from the edge. Cut the wrapping paper about 10 inches from the other side of the shoe box. This ensures that you cut enough paper to wrap the box.

3
Pick up the shoe box, and spray adhesive all over the bottom. Put the box back down exactly where it was on the unprinted side of the wrapping paper.
-
4
Cut four vertical lines from each corner of the box to the edges of the paper. Cut four horizontal lines from the corners to the edges of the paper. These cuts will leave you with four flaps: two large ones on the sides of the box and two narrow ones on the ends.
-
5
Fold each flap tightly over the sides of the box. Cut the paper so that it folds over the top of the box by exactly an inch. Pull the flaps back down, spray with adhesive and pull back into place. Do this with all sides and allow the glue to dry.
Gift Wrap the Lid
-
6
Measure the interior dimensions of the shoe box lid. Cut construction paper to fit. Spray adhesive on the paper, and glue into place inside the lid. Allow to dry.
-
7
Unroll a portion of the paper. Place the lid on the unprinted side of the paper as you did with the box. Place the lid within 2 inches of the edge. Cut the paper about 2 inches from the other end.
-
8
Pick up the lid, and spray adhesive all over the top. Put the lid back down exactly where it was. Allow the glue to dry.
-
9
Cut four vertical lines and four horizontal lines from each corner as you did with the box. Pull the flaps over the sides of the lid. Cut the paper so that it folds exactly over the edge of the lid. Spray adhesive on the paper, and pull into place. Allow the glue to dry.

Tips & Warnings
Use construction paper in a color that matches the wrapping paper. You can also use scrapbook paper, felt squares or fabric to line the box and the lid.
Embellish the lid with scrapbook stickers, ribbons, pompoms, sequins or appliques. Use hot glue or craft glue to attach nonadhesive embellishments.
