Instructions

    • 1

Dampen a soft, non-abrasive cleaning duster with cool water, and wipe down your purse. This will get rid of the dirt buildup that occurs with normal use. If your purse has stains or is dirty, get it professionally cleaned. When you leave stains on leather, they oxidize, which makes them impossible to remove.

    • 2

Remove any contents that you have in the purse, and fill it with bubble wrap. This helps the purse maintain its shape while being stored.

    • 3

Take the strap buckles off the purse to avoid impressions in the leather. If you can't remove them, wrap the straps in bubble wrap, and slip them inside the purse.

    • 4

Slip your purse inside a dust bag. Some leather purses come with one, but you can use a pillowcase if yours didn't. Simply place the purse inside a soft, natural fiber pillowcase. This will prevent scratches or scuffs on your bag when not in use.

    • 5

Keep your stored purses away from any heat sources, as heat causes leather to expand. Leather that has expanded will not return to its original shape. Consider storing the purse in a dark place in your closet.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure that your hands are clean before you handle your purse. The dirt and oils from your hands can harm the leather when left for an extended amount of time.

  • Avoid using tissue paper to stuff your purse, as it attracts moths.
