How to Write a New Business Pitch

A business pitch is designed to promote the business to potential investors. A good pitch can excite an investor and convince them that they want to learn more. A pitch that's badly delivered or prepared can turn such a potential investor off quickly.

Instructions

    • 1

Keep your pitch short and snappy. Don't bog the potential investor down with minor details, but do tell them what's important. A short pitch is easier to remember than a complicated or longwinded one.

    • 2

Make sure your pitch conveys accurate and interesting information about the business. Anticipate the basic questions that spring to mind and try to answer them in your pitch.

    • 3

Include something in your pitch that helps a potential investor realize how likely the business is to succeed. Make sure you convey your passion for and interest in the prospective business.

    • 4

Practice your pitch on friends or family and make sure you can deliver it quickly and articulately when needed. Look to see if there are sentences or words you habitually stumble over, and reword or rework the language until you do not stumble.

    • 5

Listen and respond to questions posed during the course of the pitch. Ask if you can clarify or elaborate on any part of the pitch. Make this question and answer period part of any pitch.
