How to Remove Profiles From the Welcome Page in Windows XP

Windows XP allows multiple users to create and access individual profiles tailored to their personal computing preferences. When you start a computer using Windows XP, you will be asked to select from the available user profiles listed on the welcome screen. If you no longer need a particular user profile, you can delete it in a few short steps without affecting other profiles stored in Windows XP.

Instructions

      Access your computer's "Start" menu and click the right mouse button on "My Computer." Choose "Manage" from the popup menu.

      Select "System Tools/Local Users and Group/Users" from the "Computer Management" menu.

      Find the name of the user profile that you wish to delete in the right column of the "Computer Management" menu.

      Click the right mouse button on the undesired user name and choose "Delete" from the popup menu.

Tips & Warnings

  • Deleting a user profile is permanent. Once you delete a profile, you cannot recover it.
