How to Get Mustard Stains Out of Linen Pants
Linen pants, a warm weather staple, can be elegant and appropriate for almost any occasion. They are particularly easy to wear, but unfortunately, can take a little more care than other fabrics. Mustard stains, because of the particularly vivid hue of the condiment, can also be tricky. With care and a gently touch however, your pants can most likely be salvaged and live to see another season. Things You'll Need
- Butter knife or paper towel
- Enzymatic stain remover or dish soap and rubbing alcohol
- Washing machine
- Detergent

Check the care label on the pants before proceeding. If fabric is dry-clean, only taking it to the dry cleaner is the best method of care.

Remove any hard mustard by gently scraping it with a butter knife. Remove any wet mustard by using a paper towel to blot the stain. Do not rub, as this will cause the stain to set in deeper.

Treat stain with an enzymatic spot treatment cleaner available in most laundry aisles. Allow to soak in for the amount of time specified by the manufacturer.
Optionally you can try a homemade remedy. Mix one part rubbing alcohol and three parts liquid dish soap. Pour over the stain. Allow to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing clean with cool water.

Launder in a washing machine using an appropriate amount of laundry detergent. Inspect garment after the cycle is done. Repeat machine washing if necessary.

Allow to air dry, or throw pants in the dryer.
