How to Disinfect Belly Rings

Belly rings are worn by many individuals. As these piercing are in the belly button, dirt and buildup can often accumulate, causing bacteria to form on the belly ring. As with any pierced piece of jewelry, the belly ring should be cleaned regularly, preferably before and after each use, to keep dirt or bacteria from coming into contact with the skin.   • Antibacterial soap
  • Water
  • Alcohol

Instructions

      Pour a drop of antibacterial soap into a cup, along with 1 tsp. of warm water.

      Dip a cotton swab in the soapy water, and rub over the entire belly ring. Rinse with hot water.

      Dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol, and rub over the belly ring to disinfect the jewelry.

      Clean the belly ring after each use, and disinfect at least once per week.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always wash hands with antibacterial soap before inserting or removing the belly ring, which will prevent bacteria from spreading onto the belly ring.
