How to Plant a Peach Tree From a Peach Seed

A peach pit taken from a peach is not the most ideal way to grow your own peach tree, but it can be done. The pit will need to be rinsed well first and allowed to dry for a few days before planting. A tree grown from a pit will most likely not have fruit that is like the fruit that the pit was taken from, but will grow decent fruit most of the time. The best time to plant a peach pit is in the fall. Does this Spark an idea?

    • 2

Place the peach pit in the hole and cover with soil. Do not pat the soil down; allow it to stay loose.

    • 3

Cover the area that the pit is in with pine straw or any other type of mulch. This will need to be 1 inch thick.

    • 4

Water the pit well enough to make the soil damp, but do not over water to the point of sogginess.
