How to Get a Computer Out of Suspend Mode
The suspend mode on a computer allows a user to shut down system resources without entirely shutting down the computer. Not only does this mode save energy by reducing power consumption, it allows a user to quickly access the computer without having to go through the entire start-up process. Once a computer is in the suspend mode, it can easily be started and used within minutes.

Open the lid (on a laptop) to exit the suspend mode. If this doesn't work you have several other options to exit standby mode. Pressing your laptop's power button or a key on your laptop's keyboard will cause the computer to exit the suspend mode. Most laptop computers disable the touch pad and its buttons as well as an external mouse from being able to awake the computer from the suspend mode.
