How to Deauthorize iTunes on a Computer

Due to certain regulations with intellectual property, and deals with record industries, an iTunes user can only have five computers authorized to play any music or video content that has been downloaded via iTunes. This means that if the user that already has five computers purchases an additional computer, or if the user is about to replace one computer with another one, she will need to deauthorize that computer before authorizing a new one.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Store" tab at the top of the iTunes program.

    • 2

Click the "Deauthorize computer" setting in the menu that appears.

    • 3

Enter your iTunes username and password if prompted to.

    • 4

Confirm that you want to deauthorize your PC.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can always reauthorize your computer by using the "Authorize computer" setting in the "Store" tab.
