If you love tacos, you will appreciate them even more when they are made with homemade taco seasoning.

Your tacos will not only be tastier but they will also be healthier given the fact you are not using additives such as colorants or preservatives not to mention the fact most packaged taco seasonings are loaded with salt.

Another benefit to look forward to is the amount of money you will save with this recipe. The average package of taco seasoning costs between .80 - $1.25 each. For the price of a couple of packets, you can purchase the ingredients to make a large container full of this delicious homemade taco seasoning. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1 Tbsp. dehydrated onion
  • 3 tsp. onion powder
  • 6 tsp. chili powder

Instructions

    • 1

Mix seasonings well. You can stir or simply place them into a container of some sort with a lid and shake it up good. If you do this, allow the seasonings to settle before opening up the container.

    • 2

Place your taco seasoning into glass jars or even ziploc baggies. If you are using glass jars, be certain that they are clean of any odors as that will permeate your taco seasoning and alter the flavor. (i.e. no pickle jars!)

    • 3

Create a label for your taco seasoning container. This is easiest with pre-made sticker labels you can print out yourself from your computer. If you don't have this, a slip of paper securely attached with scotch tape will suffice. Label the contents, date and directions for use (3 Tbs per 1lb of ground beef).

Tips & Warnings

  • This makes a great gift for someone when placed into a nice jar. Simply add a bow or decorate the lid.

  • Adjust ingredients to suit your taste. Don't be afraid to experiment.
