How to Use a Break-Free Gun Cleaner on Polymer Frames

Break-Free CLP is a powerful gun cleaner, lubricant and preservative used in many gunsmith shops and by gun owners across the country. Break-Free's CLP active cleaning agent is known as a Synthetic Thin Coat that is a non-toxic and biodegradable formula designed to "break" the dirt "free" from the weapon and help it to perform at an optimum level. The solution can be used on all weapons and their parts, including polymer frames or grips, and will not damage traditionally manufactured finishes on weapons.

Instructions

    • 1

Disassemble your weapon per the manufacturers instructions and set the polymer stock or frame on a suitable work surface, such as a workbench or table. Cover the table with an old cloth or newspaper to avoid ruining the surface.

    • 2

Locate the metal contact points on the polymer frame. These points exist for you to slide your metal gun receiver or other parts into a locked position, and are also referred to as lubrication points.

    • 3

Shake the can of Brake-Free for about 30 seconds and insert the hollow plastic tube into the spray nozzle on the top of the can. Ensure that the tube is fitted securely into the hole.

    • 4

Spray a small two-second burst of Brake-Free onto a gun-cleaning brush. Wait for the bubbles to disappear. This will only take a few seconds.

    • 5

Brush the metal parts and any parts of the polymer frame that appear to have gun powder residue on the surface. Scrub until the area has been cleared of residue, dirt or debris. Wipe clean with a gun-cleaning cloth.
