How to Copy & Save History in Windows XP
Periodically clearing the history in your computer's web browsing program is an essential part of maintaining fast, efficient Internet access. However, before you clear your browser's history, it can be helpful to save your browsing history into a backup folder if you need to save a link to a particular website or keep a record of what users have accessed online. You can copy and save your Internet browsing history in just a few short steps using Windows XP.

Open Windows Explorer by placing the cursor over "Start" and clicking the right mouse button.

Create a folder into which you will save the history. Select the destination drive or device from the Windows Explorer menu, click "File" on the top menu bar and select "New." Select "Folder" on the pop-up menu and type the name of the folder.

Access your computer's browsing history by selecting "Local Disk (C:)/Documents and Settings/User Name/Local Settings/History" from the Windows Explorer menu.

Select the items you want to copy. You can select multiple items by holding down the "Ctrl" key and clicking each item or you can select all items by clicking "Edit" from the top menu bar and choosing "Select All."

Copy the selected items by pressing "C" while holding down "Ctrl."

Click the name of the destination folder on the Windows Explorer menu and click the left mouse button in the blank space on the right side of the Windows Explorer screen. Press "Ctrl" and "V" simultaneously to paste the history items into the destination folder. Your computer automatically saves your information once you paste it into the new folder.
