How to Remove the Toshiba Bluetooth Driver Stack

Bluetooth drivers on your computer enable it to communicate wirelessly with other electronic devices such as cameras or cell phones. Toshiba pre-installs its own set of Bluetooth drivers (called Toshiba Bluetooth) on most of the PCs and laptops it manufactures. Some users have uninstalled Toshiba Bluetooth after experiencing problems syncing their Windows Mobile devices with the pre-installed Toshiba drivers. If you opt to use another set of Bluetooth drivers or don't want to use Bluetooth at all, you can delete the Toshiba Bluetooth by following some basic steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Window's Control Panel. You can open this module by left-clicking on the Windows icon at the lower left-hand corner of your screen (or by pressing the Windows icon button on your keyboard). Then left-click on "Control Panel."

    • 2

Click on the "Programs and Features" icon to open this sub-folder. The Programs and Features subfolder allows you to manage which programs remain active on your computer by adding or deleting them.

    • 3

Locate and highlight the Toshiba Bluetooth program in the list. You can find this item quickly by clicking on the word "Name" in the horizontal toolbar that runs above the list of programs. Doing that will arrange all of your programs in alphabetical order. Then simply scroll down the list until you find the Toshiba Bluetooth. Then highlight "Toshiba Bluetooth" by left-clicking on it.

    • 4

Uninstall Toshiba Bluetooth. After you have highlighted the program name, left click the "uninstall" button on the horizontal toolbar. At this point, Windows Vista and Windows 7 will ask you to click a prompt screen to continue. If you are not logged in to the computer as one of the recognized users, it will also ask you to enter a valid user name and password.

    • 5

Follow the Uninstall program instructions. Toshiba Bluetooth will use its own "Uninstall Wizard" to complete the uninstall process. Continue to click "Next" until the computer has finished uninstalling Toshiba Bluetooth. When it is finished, the "Next" button will now display as "Finish," and you should click on it to complete the uninstall process.

    • 6

To completely uninstall a device or driver, you must restart your computer. After you click "Finish," Windows may give you the option of "Restart your computer now." Close any other active programs, and then click that button or restart the computer manually.

Tips & Warnings

  • After you restart the computer, you can then install device drivers for another Bluetooth system.

  • Do not attempt to delete the Toshiba Bluetooth device driver files manually by opening the relevant folder and emptying them into the waste basket. Doing this could cause other programs to function improperly.
